Volunteers Week Recruitment Drive

Volunteer Cornwall and Cornwall Voluntary Sector Forum have joined forces to launch what is described as the biggest volunteer recruitment campaign Cornwall has ever seen.

Timed to coincide with Volunteers Week – which this year runs from 3rd – 9th June – the message is simple: Volunteering is good for you, it’s good for communities, it’s good for the planet – so come and get involved.

Andy Brelsford, Manager at Volunteer Cornwall, said “We want to use Volunteers Week 2024 to not only thank the many thousands of people who already give their time to help others but also to encourage more people to come forward and join in.”

Cornwall already has one of the highest volunteering rates in the country with over a third of people regularly undertaking some form of volunteering and Volunteers Week is a national event to recognise and thank those who give their time freely.

Emma Rowse, CEO at Cornwall Voluntary Sector Forum, told us “This campaign features real people from Cornwall who volunteer with some of the many Cornish charities and community groups across the county. There are an estimated 5500 charities and community groups in Cornwall and many of them rely on volunteers to undertake their vital work in the communities they serve. Volunteers give as much or as little time as they can spare and can get involved in so many different fields including driving, horticulture, conservation, heritage and arts, digital and IT or health, care and wellbeing”.

Cornwall has hundreds of opportunities right across the county – visit opportunities.volunteercornwall.org.uk to see them all or contact your local charity or community group to find out more.
