We are still supporting a lot of isolated people who would really benefit from having someone to talk to. We are looking for people willing to support people over the phone as a befriender. This role isn’t as a therapist, more as a friend; someone to just have a natter with.

Volunteer Cornwall needs Volunteer Drivers

Driving and using public transport can be challenging for people with health conditions or restricted mobility. Being able to get from A to B is crucial for maintaining a healthy, happy, active, and enjoyable lifestyle. This is where Volunteer Cornwall’s Community Transport Service comes in. All co-ordinated by the transport department at our head office in Truro, our volunteer drivers use their own vehicles to transport passengers of all ages, to schools or social & medical appointments. Our service is best suited to; people in rural areas, Time critical health care appointments or journeys where other services are unsuitable or completely unavailable. However, the service is open to anyone in the county for everyday journeys like driving to get food shopping or collecting prescriptions plus many other trips that are vital to an individual, enabling and sustaining their independent living.
Do you, or anyone you know have some spare time to become a volunteer driver. Do you enjoy driving, meeting people and exploring new parts of Cornwall?
The more drivers we have the more people we can support throughout Cornwall. You can give as much or as little time as you would like when becoming a volunteer driver, and you will be paid all out-of-pocket expenses such as bridge tolls or phone calls etc, and 45p per mile you travel while out on journeys for Volunteer Cornwall.

- We transport people on behalf of a range of charities, community groups and organisations including Action for Children; Barnardo’s; Carefree; the Wave Project and many more!
- We take the safety of our drivers and passengers very seriously. All drivers have an enhanced DBS check, references, safeguarding training and further MIDAS accredited training in driving standards and driving with passengers.

Activity Volunteers Needed in Saltash

Volunteer Cooks Needed at Truro Nourish Hub

We are looking for volunteers to join us at the Truro Nourish Hub to help us to prepare and cook food and drinks for our clients.
Could you give a few hours of your time to help out in our kitchens?

Truro Nourish Hub is a CIC, that was established to empower and enable people to learn cooking skills, the benefits of this project are to create a healthy community, meet the increasing demands of the cost of living crisis, connect people who may feel Isolated and lonely and signpost people to other organisations that they may require. The service we are offering is free, and it is inclusive to anyone.
Ideally we are looking for qualified chefs or individuals with experience with food. We would like to have volunteers who can help prepare food and serve our client base. We also require assistance in clearing up after our events.
Experience would be an advantage, but for the more general tasks, training would be provided.
We are happy to pay for any travel costs, within reason.
At present we host one event per month, but we are hoping to increase this.

Could you volunteer as a Patient Safety Partner?

We are seeking highly motivated individuals who are interested in influencing and improving patient safety across the hospital and community services provided by Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
The patient safety partner role is a new voluntary role, which has been developed by NHS England as part of the NHS Patient Safety Strategy for involving patients in patient safety.
We are looking to recruit four patient safety partners to support our commitment to ensure that public and patient voices are heard and help challenge and shape decisions relating to service development and patient safety improvement and experience.
What work would you be involved in?
The following are examples of work that you would be involved with:
- membership of quality and safety committees
- review and analysis of patient safety related information as part of strengthening the triangulation of intelligence to support the patient safety agenda
- involvement in patient safety improvement programmes
- participation in patient safety incident investigation oversight groups
- support values-based recruitment by being involved in the recruitment of key posts relating to patient safety.

Choose Nature - Monday Wild Spaces Volunteers

Do you love nature and wild spaces and live in or around the St Austell area? Well, if you do we at Choose Nature are looking for you.

We would love for you to join us as a volunteer here at the site for as much or as little time as you have to spare. No particular experience is necessary you just need an interest in helping out and being part of something fantastic.
Monday mornings, 9am-12pm (excluding bank holidays).
Everyone is welcome no matter what age or ability. Bring the whole family - It‘s fun!
Variety of outdoor tasks including gardening, general maintenance, site development projects.
Located adjacent to Wheal Martyn Clay Works. Our site includes gardening areas, poly tunnels, wildlife ponds, orchard, all helping to facilitate outdoor learning and therapeutic support in nature.
